I was in accident a few weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon coming from work, passing the butcher. So called accident, car stopped in front of me on a green light and I drove into him. The tow truck driver was on the scene before I got out my car. The person I drove into didnt even wait for the police to come and his wife appeared on the scene accusing me of being drunk. Then I went to the police station to make my statement where I got the other driver, he stated in his statement he stopped at a green robot. I got back to the scene and the tow truck driver Andries assured my wife, my brother in law, my sister in law and I that he is towing the car to the panelbeaters and they will do a third party claim, he even went so far to say that his wife is an eye witness, because she called him to scene. Because we told him we do not have insurance, he ensured us it will be sorted on Monday, the panelbeaters will do a trace on the other driver and claim third party insurance. The Monday afternoon after not hearing anything I went pass the panelbeaters and I was told to contact Andre as the car is at the towing yard. Andre was not available and said he will call me back, and been given the run around the whole week, going to their premises as well 3 times. Then the Friday I eventually get hold of Andre and he sends me a bill of R9200 on email, but the slip we received from the tow truck driver had no amounts filled in. He told me I can get my car if I give him a cash payment, not eft and he will only charge me R7200 including to take my car home. My wife was at their offices with the police, but they still not budge or acknowledge what they done was wrong. Eventually 2 weeks later we negotiated paid cash R6500 and got the car back.
