Mislead and falls promised by a salesman from Raka Energy

Mislead and false promised Salesman Complaint

On 13 July, I came across an advert for a solar system from Raka Energy in our business community group chat. I reached out to Molebogeng, a salesman, and he visited my house the same day with Jason Lui, a Raka Energy sales representative, to explain how the 4kW solar system works.

I asked Molebogeng Donny Nkomo why most people install their solar systems outside in garages, and whether it would be a problem to install mine inside the house. He assured me that some systems can be noisy, but Raka Energy’s system was quiet, with the fan only running for a few minutes. Based on this, he said it would be fine to install the system in my living room.

He also explained that payment could be made once off, in installments, or through credit. On 23 July, the system was installed from around 10am until late afternoon. However, no product documentation or warranty information was given—only a promise that someone else would verify the installation and issue a Certificate of Compliance, which I have still not received.

The installers advised me to allow at least two hours for the battery to fully charge before the fan stopped running. But by 7:29pm, the fan was still extremely noisy to the point that I couldn’t hear my TV. I messaged the installer and called Molebogeng to report this. Contrary to what I was told, the fan only stopped around 10pm.

On 24 July, I called Molebogeng again and requested the system be uninstalled, as the fan continued running every few minutes from 7am, and it was impossible to work from home in that environment. He sent the installers back, who themselves were surprised by the noise. They mentioned other customers had also complained, but admitted nothing could be done to reduce it. They advised me to speak to Molebogeng about arranging a quieter system.

Molebogeng then suggested a 5kW solar system, which he claimed would operate with no noise. He quoted me for the upgrade, assuring me I could pay in monthly installments with no interest, since I had already paid for the current system. However, after waiting several days with no updates, I contacted him again. That’s when he told me his partner, Jason Liu, had said the system should not have been installed in my living room in the first place, and that I would now need to pay the full cost of the 5kW system plus installation fees.

From the beginning, I was misled by Molebogeng Donny Nkomo. He falsely claimed the fan would only run for a few minutes, failed to provide proper documentation or a Certificate of Compliance, and made empty promises about upgrading the system without extra fees. He even admitted that Raka Energy had not properly tested their systems, and that others had experienced the same noise issues. Contact no. +***8 Jason Liu Molebogeng +***0
