RUDE DOCTOR

I've been a patient of the hospital since late January. On 2 February 2018 I was sent for a Pelvic Ultrasound and was then told to come back on 5 February 2018 for the results. When I came back on the 5th of February 2018 I was told by Dr Kgatle to come back the following day because they still needed to discuss what to do with me since I have large masses in my uterus. I came back the following day and was given an admission letter by Dr Kgatle for the 13th of February 2018 on that very same day it was explained to me that the operation would be on the 14th of February 2018.

I was received well upon my arrival at the hospital on the 13th of February 2018 vitals were checked, blood tests done and the whole procedure was fully explained in detail, then I was sent off to be admitted to ward 10 to await my operation for the following day.

Later in the day, the same Doctor told me go home and come back the following day because now my operation was on 15 February 2018 and not 14 February 2018. He claimed to not know why I was admitted and told me that at night there would be more sick patients that needed to be admitted and I was filling up space.

We bumped heads for a couple of minutes in front of the nurses and patients because I refused to leave and come back the following day just to restart the whole process again and I had paid the admission fee of R85 so leaving meant that I would have to pay another R85 the following day.

After our argument he tried to explain how the public system works in terms of the hospital admitting patients the day before their assigned surgery of which it is very much understandable if the information is communicated with someone properly.

Before the Doctor left the ward, he threatened to cancel my operation saying that since I'm 3rd on the list of people scheduled for operation I might not make the cut, claiming that there's always room for disappointment when it comes to these things so he will be forced to cancel my operation.

How do you not communicate in an orderly fashion with a patient and then threaten to cancel their operation when they stand up for their rights? Such treatment should not be given to patients. It's wrong and not fair.

I will send a follow up response tomorrow (1 4 February 2018) should my operation be cancelled for no particular reason.
