RAHIMA MOOSA MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISON AKA HOSPITAL

I went to the clinic at Rahima Moosa Hospital for a routine check up. During this check up, my blood pressure was high and thus they immediately admitted me to hospital as I was then 36 weeks pregnant with high blood pressure. I was admitted on Monday, 10 February 2020. Was told to sit on a wooden bench opposite the nursing station, as they did not have any beds available for all of us ladies that particular night. Only much later, at around 8pm, they shifted other pregnant ladies around, and we were placed in their beds.

I thought I was going to be induced on that Monday - but no, I was only induced on Wednesday. They gave me some liquid, which tasted like water, 20ml every 2 hours. I took about 6 of these and then the doctor did her rounds, she felt that I was in early labour and instructed me to stop the induction, as the medication is working. I was in early labour (1-2cm dilated). My last 20ml liquid was 9am. Only much, much later, at about 7pm, a doctor did rounds again and felt that I was still only about 2cm dilated. So I was told that this particular induction failed and that they will now put me on a drip, to induce labour (again). At about 11pm on Wednesday, 12 February 2020, I was pushed into the labour ward and put on the drip for induction. My husband was allowed to be with me in the labour ward throughout the night. But the morning, when a student doctor came to check on me, she said that my baby does not like this medicine, my baby is in distress and they are stopping the drip induction immediately, and booking me an emergency c section. At around 6am on Thursday, 13 February 2020, the drip induction was stopped, as that too has failed. I was told that I was second on the list for emergency c section. At about 10am, they prepped me for theater. All the doctors and the anesthetist were so friendly and put me at ease. I had a epidural and at 11h28 my baby boy was born, healthy! I thought it was over and I could relax...

My nightmare started when I left the theater and was pushed into WARD 7 on the second floor. I was told to lay still on my back for 6 hours, my newborn baby was handed to me, whilst I was immobile, laying on my back for 6 hours. I had to breastfeed my newborn whilst fresh out of surgery and in pain. My legs started to tingle and I could actually move my toes and legs. 6 hours went by and the nursing staff shouted at all of us in WARD 7 that we now have to sit up straight, eat and go to the toilet. The nursing staff offered NO HELP WHATSOEVER in sitting me up straight. And then when I eventually managed to sit up, the nursing staff put the bed up straight in a 90 degree angle. My c section cut was sore, my back was sore, every part of my body was sore. After forcing us to eat their terrible food, all of us were ORDERED to get up and go PEE. 99% of our hospital gowns were soaked in blood and we were also laying in blood in our beds. Luckily my husband packed me a bag with over night clothes, which I could change into. Other ladies asked for new gowns, and were told, they do not have more hospital gowns.

The nursing staff in WARD 7 was so rude, impatient and definitely on a power trip. They made me feel like I was a child or worst even, like I was a prisoner in a maximum security prison. In the mornings we were forced to get up (5am), breastfeed our babies and then go and sit around the tables in the middle of the ward and have breakfast together "like a family" - with little space, we were squashed in next to one another, with our babies screaming in the background. We were not allowed to attend to our babies, as this is now eating time and the babies must scream - "it is good for their lungs".

The nursing staff was just extremely pathetic and rude. They did not offer any help whatsoever. I was almost to scared to ask anything, being afraid I will then have a target on my back and be treated even worse. So I tried to stay calm until I was eventually discharged from the horrible nightmare maximum security prison aka Rahima Moosa Hospital on Saturday, 15 February 2020.

I will never ever tell anybody to go to this hospital. This hospital is dirty! The bathrooms dont even have bath plug, and the showers' heads are all broken off. They toilet doors cannot lock, the toilets are dirty and it stinks. In the labour ward where I was, I could see blood stains on the walls, right up to the ceiling. Obviously some poor lady had given birth there and the blood spatter was all over the walls. There were ****roaches running around in our ward. The walls are dirty, the ceilings are dirty, there were dust on the windowsills. The hospital looks like it should not even be open. Looks like a scene from the movie Saw. The bathrooms are identical to the one you see in the movie Saw.

I really hope that someone reads this and that something will be done about the pathetic nursing staff!!! And the general cleanliness of the place.
