DISGUSTED PARENT: RAHIMA MOOSA HOSPITAL

On Wednesday 24 August 2022 at 18h00 I rushed my daughter to Rahima Moosa Hospital because she was suffering with severe back pain and diarrhoea. She was 13weeks pregnant when she was admitted. The hospital did a sonar and confirmed her pregnancy. When they did the sonar there was a heartbeat. They gave her a potassium drip as they said that she was low on potassium. As soon as the potassium drip was put in, she started bleeding and this was at 01:00am on 25 August 2022. The nurses said that they are not going to give her anything to stop the bleeding, she needs to bleed out whatever is coming. She miscarried the baby. They then admitted her to Ward 9 at 06:00am on 25 August 2022, and she was still bleeding. She was in the ward waiting to be taken to the theatre for a DNC but was told that the theatre was fully booked and that she has to wait because there was a backlog. She was in the ward for the entire day and was not given any feedback on when the procedure will take place. She then left the hospital at 06:00am on 26 August 2022 because the doctors and nurses were not seeing to her. She walked out of the ward and out of the hospital without anyone stopping her. She indicated to the nurse that she was leaving and the nurse said "Its fine". The nurse from Ward 9 called me at 08:30am on 26 August 2022 wanting to find out where my daughter was as she was not in her hospital bed. They asked me to bring her back to the hospital. When we arrived at the hospital she signed a RHT. The male student doctor that was there tried to tell her what to write as the reasons for her refusing hospital treatment and I indicated to him that he has no right to do that because she has to articulate HER experience. The doctors in Ward 9 were all sitting on their phones and acting like they are on a holiday. I was extremely upset because they are supposed to put their patients first. The Matron of Rahima Moosa Hospital was called to Ward 9 as I was not happy with the treatment that we were receiving. So my daughter was in the hospital for two days with a dead foetus in her womb and they were not doing anything about it. RAHIMA MOOSA HOSPITAL IS SUPPOSED TO BE A MOTHER AND CHILD HOSPITAL BUT THEY ARE NOTHING OF THE SORT. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE CONCERNED FOR THE WELL BEING OF THE MOTHER AND CHILD 24/7 NOT JUST WHEN THEY FEEL LIKE IT. THE STUDENT DOCTORS AT RAHIMA MOOSA SHOULD GO FOR RE-TRAINING BECAUSE CLEARLY THEIR PEOPLE SKILLS ARE LACKING. THE YOUNG STUDENT DOCTORS AND NURSES SHOULD TAKE LESSONS FROM THE MORE EXPERIENCED DOCTORS AND NURSES THAT HAVE BEEN IN THE INSTITUTION FOR LONGER THAN WHAT THEY ARE ON THIS EARTH.
