Unhappy customer

Purchased a pair of shoes on 26.09.19 wore them on 05.10.19 for the first time. Very uncomfortable, took them back on 07.10.19 & was told i could only get a voucher or exchange, i paid money for these shoes and i must be told i will get one of the above?? Absolute nonsense!!!
