Returns are a hassle

I have purchased items at rage and had returned them for exchange, however upon the exchanges I found the items to not fit as expected and returned them. However the store refused to receive the items, we called Head office and the lady who responded said the could refund back into my card if I had used any other card except a credit card(which is what I have used). I dont understand how the type of card is given as a reason for not allowing a return. I'm highly disappointed and even now I don't know what to do with the items since I cannot use them.
