Refund on shoes i bought

I bought shoes on the 28th of september 2015. Today i went to the branch in jabulani mall to return them. i wss told i cannot return them. i can only exchange or be given a credit note. Im not angry at Hlezi. but im angry at the store. wat happened to my consumer rights. As a consumer i can return any merchandise. your policies limit my rights. i do not want an exchange but a refund. i still have the till slip. Please get back to me..because i am not happy
