Dissatisfactory Service
I am unhappy with the service I have received at Rage Shoes and Clothing store in Standerton, Mpumalanga Province. I have had an account with Rage for X number of years and I would like to believe that all payments on the account are up-to-date.
On 30.03.2025 I bought pairs of shoes for both myself and daughter, unfortunately for my daughter my preferences were limited, and sizing was also an issue that came to play. Purchases were made on both account and debit card. One of the shoes snapped on the first wear and another pair was too small. Fortunately, because I still had the receipts, I took the shoes back to the store on 17.04.2025 and requested a refund but was told that I can only get an exchange and was not eligible for a refund as policy says I can only get a refund within 7 days from the date of purchase. Understandable however the receipts I had did not have that information on it.
The shop assistant called what I assume was their returns division and I was told that I MUST accept an exchange as the refund was not possible.
What bothers me is that this policy I am being told about does not have these number of days printed on the receipt, and it is not a matter of it being wiped off. Both receipts do not have this. 2 - the manner in which the matter was handled was totally unacceptable. I had all proof of purchase on me that was not printed clearly and it cannot be said when I am querying this I be told "oh we had a printing issue"
When I called customer services, the lady I spoke to said and I quote "they told you at the store that you have to send an e-mail explaining your issue so I don't know how you expect me to help you if you don't listen"
This raises alarms, if I was a 60-year-old woman - would this be the treatment I get from both the store and phone consultant? Being told while at the store that I need to call and send an e-mail to someone external to the branch while you are at the branch and again once those calls and e-mails are done there is no resolution. What kind of policy is this? So, the expectation from Rage Store is that you shop there today however when you have an issue, you are being sent from pillar to post? Mind you, you have paid for the items in question and when those items have a defect getting your money back is mission impossible and you being sent from pillar to post.
I am disappointed in the service and the attitude from the people at the branch. I am being forced to make payment on the account on a torn shoe that my daughter can no longer were. We are not treated fairly as customers. My right to choose, my right to fair value & good quality, my right to accountability by the store are being violated.
