damaged shoes

I bought shoes from rage on the 3rd march and wore them on the 12th of march at my aunts funeral. After the funeral which was from 7am till 10am I noticed that the tip of the heel was gone and the plastic covering the heel was pushed up on one side. I took the shoes back to rage in April as I was still looking for a slip and they refused to exchange or refund me saying its not a factory fault. Whose faut is it then if you buy a quality shoes and its damaged after wearing it for a few hours. I'm very disappointed and I will never buy shoes from them ever again
