Damaged shoes

Last year in October during summer time I bought a pair of boots from rage they were on sale for R450 from +-R650 I never wore the the shoes. I only started wearing the shoes this year during winter ans I would only wear them twice a week but to my surprise three weeks back I felt an excruciating pain on my deals but didn't know what's wrong I was walking in the mall. I sat down inky to find out that the shoes are thorn on the back on the heels , I was so embarrassed. I then went to Rage to complaint ans the ladies ther told me they only have 6months guarantee on goods and they called head office and the the lady by the name of Wendy and she said there is nothing they can do . My question and concern is did I pay R450 for plastic that will last only 3 months ? If this is the situation then I will never ever buy anything from Rage as they sell cheap material at a high price and tell their client's there is nothing they can do .
