Unprofessional, Unprepared, Insulting Drunk Wedding MC/Comedian

We Hired Rabin Harduth to be the MC at our reception in October 2019.

He failed to prepare at all or even go through the extensively provided wedding program allowing him to know and fully understand that the wedding ceremony is the first order of event and then a guest activity. He started our wedding with the activity as opposed to first event on the program list which was to get us married. Before the wedding we had met with him and went through our program as well as leave him with his own copy of our detailed program. Although he had the program, he failed to prepare and started our wedding off by the second item on the program and not the main - which is to get the couple married first. When we met with him, he was properly informed that the purpose of the guest activity was to be facilitated in our absence so that the guests would not get bored when we were away taking our pictures after getting married. Instead Rabin did not adhere to this, and chose to start the guest activity whilst we were still in the venue and before getting married, this disrupted our entire program because it meant our guests would not be kept entertained whilst we were away. We specifically indicated to him not to mention that alcohol is being served as we had Muslim guests at the function and he chose to HIGHLIGHT this and announce this to all our guests present. He did not properly follow the extensively provided wedding program in the proper sequence of events as per our meeting held in advance. He personally decided of his own accord to go around asking random guests trivia questions as the first activity where the program clearly and specifically states that for the first activity is clearly not Rabin walking around the venue asking trivia questions to random guests but requires him to call upon two couples to the front of the venue and commence the trivia with those two specific couples. As a result of him not following the program properly he continuously turned to us on stage (the bride and groom) and also called us each minute whilst we were away on our photo shoot, asking us what he should do as the guests were bored. This is due to the fact that he mixed the entire order of events and sequence of our wedding program by not acquainting himself with the wedding program. Also included in the program which is self-explanatory and basically a dummies guide on how to entertain the guests when the guests get restless.

Further included in the program is a suggestion to move onto the next activity in the event we were late from our photo shoot, which we were not but actually had to arrive earlier than expected because Rabin decided to commence the entire wedding by not getting us married by the marriage officer but in fact going along with the activity which was the second portion of the program. To our amazement and dismay apart from Rabin continuously turning to the bride and groom for assistance in how to lead the 12 page program in front of him, he disrespected our guest for the second activity by embarrassing them and saying that a “teddy” was what he thought to be “lingerie” which by the way was even pronounced incorrectly by him. He completely embarrassed them with this inappropriate and bad taste of humour. He casually attempted to pass of a vulgar joke on the word “madhir” when we explicitly instructed him when we met with him (1) not to use any vulgar words or (2) make the wedding out to be a religious issue. But he chose to resort to vulgarities. Rabin completely demeaned the sanctity of the event. As a result of him going off track on the program he thereafter continuously turned to the bride and groom throughout the entire process of the function to ask us for direction as to what he should do next. Rabin had the program in front of him, but chose to place himself in a constant situation of departing from the program in the very beginning wherein he found that he could not coordinate the entire wedding thereafter as he did not follow the sequence of the program. To our horror, we discovered that he had actually been drunk the entire time of leading the wedding and being a “master of ceremonies”. He constantly visited the bar in the adjourning building wherein we experienced difficulty locating him to lead the program. He continuously disappeared and as a result it appeared that our wedding was totally uncoordinated. We had to request our guests to go to the bar and call him to return from the bar to the venue. In this instance he did not co-ordinate the event at all because we had to constantly search for him to follow through with the program. His lack of professionalism is utterly disappointing especially when his failed preparedness showed when he did not even prepare the chalkboard for an activity we had planned or ensure having it ready. He chose to open the packet and its contents containing the game items on video, whilst shuffling with the mic. We had undertook to provide him with all the necessary game equipment which he failed to prepare prior to introducing it to the guests. He uncovered the plastic covering whilst shuffling the microphone and the equipment in front of our guests and the cameramen whilst requesting our guests to help him with the unopened chalkboards. He had sufficient time to prepare as we provided him with the chalkboards hours in advance before the wedding. Our guests were not there to assist Rabin with his non-preparation. We provided him with all the material and a detailed program which he took pains to disregard in a matter of seconds. To our complete shock, it got much worse than we anticipated or believed even possible, when Rabin felt it appropriate to call the groom’s WIDOW mother to catch the bouquet. When we met with him we specifically informed him not to mention the groom’s dad who had recently passed away and yet he found it appropriate to have mention the grooms mother catch the bouquet. When he was not frequenting the bar, he also appeared to help himself as an unwelcomed guest to the buffet for our guests to which he would seat himself away from the venue and help himself to meals when he was required to lead the program whilst the guests were dining. We did not cater for him as he was a service provider and not a guest.

He boldly announced to all our guests when we cut the cake that he hoped it was real as more often than not he felt that, the cake would be **** at a wedding. And this is all based on his presumption that people usually had **** cakes at their wedding? As anyone can imagine this was incredibly humiliating and completely insulting to us, in an attempt by Rabin to undermine our wedding.

Instead of steering attention away from the stage when the bride’s dress snagged, he drew attention to it by stating “what is going on here” into the microphone as opposed to diverting the guests attention. As MC the purpose is to control the event and draw attention away from mishaps. Not highlight them as he did. Honestly, it seemed like he had never MC’d before. We had spent two years, day and night planning this wedding only for him to not even prepare and properly go through the program to ensure that our marriage ceremony is conducted first by the marriage officer. He made it seem as if the bride & groom had been unprepared as our guests were shocked and laughing at him when we had to abruptly, publicly and continuously call him aside to correct his failure to follow the program. One of our guest’s even approached him to enquire from him as to whether he had ever done any other functions before or if this was his first and asked him for his card not because he had done a “good” job but to write a scathing review on all his mishaps committed during our wedding as our guests and ourselves were appalled at the manner in which he had ruined our wedding. This was certainly not the service we requested and not the service he was required to provide as per our program provided.

We hope that this situation does not occur for another couple intending to engage in his services and trust that you heed the alarm bells from the above. It is clear that he has no professionalism as following our wedding we have made every attempt to approach him on his shocking conduct wherein he has been neglecting our calls and refusing to respond to our emails or messages. It is clear that he lacks the necessary s****s and etiquette required of an MC and that a major concern is his alcoholic abuse.

If you need any clarity on the above or wish to engage in his services, we appeal to you to reconsider and invite you to contact us if you need any clarity or affirmation of our experience with Rabin.
