Theft and Damage! Don't use them!

The move went quickly and efficiently and I thought everything was fine. After unloading at the new premises they were in a hurry to leave and pushed me to sign the delivery note. After a quick check and looking in the truck I signed the delivery note and they left. Later in the evening I found that my bush hat and camping chair were missing - ******. I checked all the new keys and found that a distinctive key ring to a cupboard I had locked was missing. I had locked some sentimental things inside the cupboard. Obviously they were snooping around for something valuable to ***** but were not interested (thankfully!) in my sentimental stuff. They distracted me and I left the key in the lock but later I must have disturbed them and they pocketed the key and keyring.

When I plugged in my fridge it made a terrible vibrating noise every time the motor kicked in. When I tried to use the washing machine the drum made a loud grating noise. I had to call a technician out. All the pipes on the back of the fridge were loose and had to be fixed. The metal plate covering the back of the washing machine had been so badly dented that it was grating on the motor. I had to pay for both these repairs.

I wrote a detailed complaint to Quick Movers and they wriggled out of all liability by quoting from their terms and conditions. Just because they unplugged the appliances instead of me, they refused to accept any responsiblity for the damage! Whoever unplugged the machines has nothing to do with damage incurred during loading and transit! They also know jolly well that it is not worth it for me to claim on my insurance for small items and they can get away with petty theft.

If they carry on like this they will go out of business eventually. Don't use them.
