Quay Four should close their door

In the past the upstairs Quay Four restaurant at the Waterfront in Cape Town was renowned for great food and we often enjoyed their extremely well prepared seafood platters, The seafood was fresh and well prepared and attention was given to detail. Unfortunately the restaurant had gone from sublime food to incredibly ridiculous poorly prepared food. In the past their grilled Baby Kingklip was flaky, succulent and well seasone -, always well prepared - but not over-cooked. Yesterday when I had lunch at the upstairs establishment the only well prepared item was the health bread which was fresh. moist and very tasty with the raisins. I ordered Grilled Baby Kingklip and the fish had the skin on which was unusual. There were parallel cuts into the fish which was deep fried. The fish was extremely rubbery and the taste unpleasant. The only possible explanation is that the chef did not pitch and the dish washer did the food preparation. It was dished up with a small wilted side salad smothered in store bought mayonnaise. The "fresh garden vegetables" was the other item on the plate. It consisted of stir fried carrots and red cabbage. that was very mediocre.but the most edible of the three items on the plate. The only highlight was the very friendly and attentive service of the waitress, but that does not compensate for the worst meal I ever had in a restaurant. There are any establishments at the Waterfront and I suggest that if you enjoy your food avoid this one.
