I would strongly caution anyone considering renting through this property management company. I gave a month and a half’s notice and clearly stated from the beginning that my only possible move-out date was 1 August. This was not a last-minute decision or something I sprung on them. On multiple occasions, my move-out date of 1 August was confirmed via WhatsApp with the property manager. The reason was straightforward: the tenant in my new home could only vacate on the morning of 1 August, meaning I physically could not move into my new home before then. Approximately a week and a half before my agreed move-out date, I was suddenly informed that I was expected to be completely out by 10:00 on 31 July. When I questioned why I was suddenly being pressured to leave earlier than the agreed date, I was told that new tenants needed to move into the property on the afternoon of 31 July. This reason was communicated to me twice in writing via WhatsApp and once over the telephone. I explained that there was absolutely no way I could be out by then. I was five months pregnant, doing this move alone, and, most importantly, the tenants in my new home were still occupying the property. I had nowhere to move my belongings to and no ability to simply make a home appear somewhere else. Despite knowing my circumstances, I was met with an arrogant, dismissive and completely inhumane attitude and was pressured into moving earlier than the date that had repeatedly been agreed upon. What makes this even more unacceptable is that I was given the impression that this pressure was necessary because new tenants were supposedly moving in on 31 July. Yet, after I was forced to vacate and went through all the unnecessary stress and additional expense, no new tenants moved into the property for more than five days after I had been forced out. This raises a very serious question: Why was I forced to incur unnecessary costs and put through such an incredibly stressful situation when the property was apparently not even being occupied by the new tenants for several days afterwards? The consequences of their decision were significant. Because I could not access my new home until 1 August, I had to pay the moving company twice — once on 30 July to move all my belongings into a temporary room, and again on 1 August to move everything from there into my new home. This was an entirely unnecessary additional expense that resulted directly from being pressured to vacate earlier than my agreed move-out date. And unfortunately, the deductions from my deposit were another issue. I was charged R500 for cleaning, despite having arranged for someone to clean the property two days before I moved out. Once my furniture was removed, the only reasonable cleaning required was essentially the floor. Charging R500 under these circumstances felt excessive and unjustified. I was also charged R800 for my final water bill. I live alone and had never paid more than approximately R500 per month for my water, so naturally I questioned this amount and requested supporting invoices. Instead of providing the original invoices or actual supplier statements, they refused and only provided documents generated by themselves. If deductions are being made from a tenant’s deposit, there should be complete transparency and proper supporting documentation — not simply figures presented by the same party making the deductions. I was a tenant who always paid my rent on time, looked after the property and was never difficult or unreasonable. I gave ample notice, communicated openly and did everything expected of me as a tenant. After being a responsible tenant throughout my tenancy, I never expected to be treated with such a complete lack of understanding, empathy or basic human decency. What makes the entire situation even more disappointing is that when I genuinely needed some understanding — being five months pregnant, moving alone, and having absolutely no access to my new home until 1 August — I was not met with compassion or even a willingness to work with me. Instead, I was treated as though my circumstances were simply an inconvenience. The worst part was not even the money. It was the way I was treated. Tenants are human beings, not just numbers on a lease. After being a reliable tenant who consistently paid on time and caused no problems, I believe I deserved to be treated with respect, dignity and basic understanding. Instead, I was pressured into an unnecessary early move, forced to incur additional moving costs, and then left questioning deductions from my deposit that were not properly supported by original documentation. I would not recommend this property management company. My experience was stressful, unnecessarily expensive and deeply disappointing. If you are considering renting through them, I strongly recommend getting every agreement in writing, keeping all WhatsApp conversations and records, and insisting on proper original invoices and documentation for every deduction from your deposit.
