Withholding my vehicle
Where do I begin? I have an extended warranty with these guys. 1. I took my car in on October the 10th for mirrors which were not working from the door panel. Took the car back same day as they had to order a part. My door handle was cracked right through. The little mirror node casing was not put back. my car began looking like a s**** real quick. The car was left with the security guard as I leave work at 6pm and they close at 5pm 2. Followed up with them on 15 November and the part hadn't even been ordered! They blamed Mazda for not placing the order with THEIR warehouse 3. Asked Joe if i had not followed up, what would have happened? No acceptable answer (obviously) Part ordered and arrived November 22nd 4. We had to co-ordinate a date to book the car in which became Wednesday the 4th of December. On Thursday the 28th, i was driving past Qcars in the morning on my way to Mpumalanga and my left indicators failed. They just stopped flashing completely on the N1. Pulled off towards Qcars. They were kind enough to look for the problem. it was traced (took the whole day) but i was told it's the modulator (or control panel - i'm not fami**** with the terminologies) left the dealership after 5pm towards my destination. The cracked panel was however replaced that day but my mirrors were still not working. 5. We agreed that as agreed, i would come on the Wednesday to fix all the issues on the day. The root of the problem was found so it would be a replacement/ testing of the unit identified 6. Brought the car in on 4 December on my way to training at work (would not be needing the car for the day) Joe was surprised that the new door panel did not fix the mirror issues so in essence, nothing was fixed in the last 2 visits. Advised that he will follow up with that and i left my keys 7. Due to training, we left work early at 5pm. I send Joe messages asking about the car. No response. i take an Uber to the dealership at 5:30. find the dealership closed and no security guard. i freak out. Where is my car? What is going on. 20 calls and 10 whatsapp messages later, no response. It's raining hard, since i had not been informed of the car not coming back - my house keys, my jacket, my sisters asthma pump - are all in the cabby hole! 8. At 6pm, Joe responds "no one is there, your car is at the workshop, thought you were aware" i will not elaborate on what i said in response. I'm told all the loan cars are being fixed - not that they offer those. Told to make a plan. a few choice words later and he offers to pay for my uber home. How i get to work the next day is my problem 9. I tell him about the items in the cabby hole, at 7pm he asks if i am still at Qcars, they will bring my keys. I'm at my fathers place at the time. Joe mistakenly sends a message to me meant for his mechanic. Says "she at her fathers place so it's her ndaba (issue) now" 10. Thursday rolls around and no word from Joe until i follow up. Car is not ready is all he says. When will it be ready. I don't know. the mechanic will call. He in effect says it's not his problem and i should call the mechanic directly from now on 11. In comes Vasco. I ask Vasco where the hell my car is. send location. i had no idea where my car was the whole time. its behind Cosmo city (Qcars is in Randburg) i live in Alberton. After another day of run around, in essence, I'm not getting my car back (for indicators???) i ask for my car back if they are ordering a part. Apparently the unit needs to be replaced. 12. Qcars is aware of the problem (from the second time i came in) yet they only pay for the part on Friday 6 December (I am unaware of this at the time - will elaborate on how i found out below) i call Vasco who is now rude and i have to remind him we have a professional relationship. I ask for the Mazda where the order was placed 13. Call Mazda Midrand and am told the part will only arrive on monday. I lose my mind! have been sleeping on my dads couch and wearing my clothes from high school to work. I have a 3 year old who is supposed to be at preschool daily - we haven't set foot in our house. My dads neighbors have to be paid to babysit AND IM NOT MOBILE OVER THE WEEKEND of a family funeral!! I'm thinking no F*n way. Call VDM car services (where my car is) and demand it back. Fixed or not. Ask for the manager, his name is Patrick. I'm asking him why they are keeping my car randsom? if you are waiting for a part, close my car and return. There is nothing mechanically wrong with it. He makes this and that promise. Promises to drop the car off at my house. So back into the rain. 14. To cut an already long story short, it is the 10 of December (8:30pm) and I'm typing this from the security booth at my workplace. Patrick has effectively kept my car for 7 days without my consent. He was meant to drop off my car at 6pm. At 7pm, he hadn't even left the workshop. i had my whole family call him as he wasn't answering my calls 15. The car is being returned unrepaired (from the “Nissan, Ford and Mazda specialists”), that's if it is coming back at all - I might be sleeping in this booth tonight
