Worst experience with flight change.

DO NOT BOOK WITH QATAR AIRWAYS! UNACCEPTABLE AND TERRIBLE SERVICE!

I booked a trip with Qatar Airways to go from Cape Town to Japan on a weekday, with first layover in Doha. There was a flight leaving during the day and one in the evening, which was much more expensive. I bought the expensive one because I needed to work that full day.

Some time after, I get a notification that my flight schedule has changed. Now I’m on the day flight because the evening one was cancelled, I’m going to loose the full day of work and there is no compensation for the price difference, I could’ve booked that one for much cheaper in the first place!!

But it doesn’t end here! Now I have a full night in Doha! The other flights were not even changed accordingly! So if I had bought the day flight from the start, not only I would’ve paid less, but at least I would’ve gotten sooner to Japan instead of staying more than 8 hours in Doha airport!

They say it’s fine, you can change your other flights. But you must pay the price difference! Which by that time was more than my initial ticket!!!

So now I have to ask for a day of unplanned and unpaid leave, just so that I can fly during the day and spend an entire night on a hard reclined seat at Doha airport in the rest area (a public place where your luggage is unattended). Great!

So I called to ask to at least get a hotel in Doha to have a good night’s rest in this very long trip before reaching Japan. They first say yes, they have vouchers for over 8 hours layovers like mine! Great! But then they say no, they cannot give it to me because I’m leaving from Cape Town. ???? 🤷🏻♀️ why does it matter where I’m flying from if I’m spending the night in Doha?? Go figure.

Worst experience ever with a major airline. I’m so disappointed, because it used to be a good airline but now they are behaving like a small bad quality low-cost airline. Except for the price!!

Now it’s too late to get a refund and buy another ticket at a reasonable price with another airline. So I just have to endure it. But others can take my advice, and don’t book with them in the first place! It’s not worth it!
