Title: Disappointing First-Class Experience on Qatar Airways – Far from "World’s Best Airline"
I recently flew Qatar Airways first-class from Hong Kong to Doha in May 2025, drawn in by their well-publicized tagline as the "world’s best airline." Unfortunately, my experience was nothing short of appalling.
The aircraft itself was shockingly outdated, seemingly 40+ years old, with a first-class cabin showing clear signs of neglect—peeling veneer, a broken bed, dirty surfaces, and a malfunctioning headphone sound port. Even the restroom in first-class had a broken seat, which is unacceptable for a premium experience.
The inflight dining, typically a highlight of first-class, was equally disappointing. Items on the menu, notably caviar, were unavailable due to logistical failures. My main meal, a seared black cod, was inedible and had to be returned.
After my flight, I raised a formal complaint with Qatar Airways, highlighting these issues and requesting compensation at least equal to the fare difference between first-class and business class. Their response? A mere $400 credit towards a future ticket—an offer that completely missed the point. This was not about money but about the principle of delivering the quality service that first-class passengers are promised and pay for.
My experience with Qatar Airways was incredibly disappointing, and I strongly urge others considering their first-class service to temper their expectations.
