bit.ly qatarairways.com 5 July 03:02 Vanessa I kept phoning your call centre with on several occasions no luck. Eventually I was told that Qatar is part of the Star alliance, there will be flights available on the exact dates, and that I can plan my itinerary. On 18th September 2017, the day we departed from Jhb we were again informed by your Qatar desk at O R Tambo that there will be flights available for us and we must go to Qatar customer service at the airport in Munich to confirm, as they do not have access until we have departed. As soon as we arrived in Munich after long flight which I must add was 5 ***** Star treatment! Amazing!

On arrival – Munich Qatar desk closed. Waited 2 hours before customer service was available and was told to rebook our flights. We rebooked - No flights were available on the same dates as our previous booking ,only Lufthansa flight connecting in Frankfurt also….only on the following day 1st October 2017 as the flights were very full. We had to book another night’s accommodation in our Hotel Munich wit high cost, as it was October fest, weekend with limited accommodation available. We departed from Munich on the 1st October 2017 LH 105 on the delayed flight to Frankfurt and missed our LH 630 connection to Dubai. The staff at the gate in Frankfurt was so rude AS they just closed the gates 5 min before……. and we were sent from one place to the other , we were eventually helped, after waiting 3 hours for a shuttle and put in Airport Hotel situated in the middle of nowhere. We were not the only people delayed on the flight to Dubai. We have already paid accommodation, Dessert Safari and swim with Dolphins. We could only fly out of Germany to Dubai on the 2nd of October 2017 arriving Dubai time 10 ‘ o clock in the evening we only got through customs at about 12 0 clock , needless to say we could not find our luggage. The Hotel shuttle was not available as we arranged for the previous night. We forfeited the accommodation for 1st October as well and had to pay the no show. Arrived at the hotel at 3 o’ clock in the morning by Taxi.

On the 3rd October 2017, we asked the hotel to assist us with the information re our booking the next day 4th October 2017 with Ethiopian Airlines ET 603 at 17.10 BOOKING REF: ET/MDGYIG with connecting at Addis Ababa. RESERVATION WAS CONFIRMED

We arrived at the Dubai airport at 12.50 and immediately went to the Check in counter of Ethiopian air.

NB: We were notified that there was no E Ticket for Flight E 603, however, we had the print out from Qatar Airways in Munich of our booking. We assume QATAR changed our tickets and not the booking See attached

We were stranded!! There were no ways of communicating with Qatar as all network with Qatar was banned by the UAE!!!!!! Not even Ethiopian Air was able to contact us. We were just talking about “Qatar” amongst ourselves; minutes later, we were approached by the Authorities and taken to be questioned. The Authorities interrogated us, as the following info looked very suspicious:

• According to them we had no valid Ticket to exit out of Dubai to Johannesburg • Our Visas were to expire at 12 0’clock that night 4th October 2017

The Authorities insisted that we leave Dubai ASAP on Emirates Flight EK 767 at 23.20 before our visas expire. and had no option but to fly back the same night This was an extremely stressful situation, which had severe health consequences! .

The flight fare was enormous and our credit card could not accommodate the huge amount of ± R 28 000.00 We had to make special arrangements for our Cheque card to be used.

All the hours and money wasted because of Qatar adds up to the following. 1 x extra night in Europäischer Germany 285 Euros = R 4 499.00

2 x AED3 595 UAE FLIGHTS to JHB AED 7190 = R 27 868, 44 1 x night no show at hotel in Dubai Dinner included AED 661.99 = R 2 565.87 2-x hoteldinner AED 688 = 2745.12 2 x Airport Taxi AED 120 = R 478.00 2 x Dolphin booking AED 1580 = R 6125.34

Total amount lost ± R 44 287.00 not including the 3 days we lost etc. We were going on a Romantic renewal of our wedding vows and belated honeymoon 4 days of absolute bliss ended up in a nightmare in Dubai. The Dubai trip was carefully planned and saved for, as it was a belated honeymoon trip, which we never had because of Qatar Airways. NB Qatar changed the ticket , not the booking We request that Qatar refund our entire initial Dubai trip plus latest travelling costs with UAE or First Class return tickets to USA and two days accomodation .
