Pulse living is very unproffesional

I got a flat to rent at Pretorius street in Pretoria through Pulse living.I then moved in on the 28 January 23 and paid a full amount of R5800.Immdiately when I arrived I noticed that the toilet is leaking, the bathtub is blocked and there was no electricity in the flat.Fine,I stayed from the 28th to the 31st with no electricity even though I've been constantly calling and begging them for assistance.I was being told that the electricity issue had nothing to do with them but i must contact Tshwane electricity.I don't know how because I'm their client and I just moved in and now I'm expected to sort out this major default that I too found already exists.Within days all my food has gone off from the fridge. My kids bathed with cold water, went to school with uniform that wasn't ironed and I had to buy takeaways every single day.I lost a lit of money and my kids really suffered in tue process. Finally Tshwane came and fixed the issue, but later that night the power was off again.I called them again as early as 07:30 but i got no help.I then got through and spoke to a lady named Joyce, she told me that is not her problem but Tshwane's and then she hung up on me while i was still talking to her.I called back immediately bur she ignored the phone 3 times from then on.Later that morning they sent a cleaner to come see what the problem was but as expected he couldn't fix it.I then decided to send an email to their offices at East London and only then I got their attention, they gave me two options. The first one was to move to another flat but in the same vicinity. When I went to view that flat I found a lot of faults,The sink was blocked with dirty water overflowing, the walls were dirty and paint was peeling off.The bathroom had pipes sticking out,it was literally looked like HELL.And their second option was to cancel the contract at no cost at all.I then opted to cancel the contract but to my surprise they told me that I had less than 48 hours to find an alternative accommodation and vacate their premises. They didn't care whether I found accommodation or not, they just wanted me off their premisses. This morning on the 04 Feb 23 I received my money from them but they had deducted and amount of R600 that nobody informed me about.Pulse living was so unfair to me,they completely disregarded me and the fact that I had 3 minor children with just one salary.Im so hurt and dissappointed at the inhuman treatment I received from them.People need to be careful before entering into any contracts with these heartless people. Now I have money that is short and nowhere to go,I don't even Know where to start with this short time frame they gave me.

Dear Mapaseka

Subsequent to you taking occupation of the flat, we received a report of no electricity on Sunday, 29/1/2023. As the electricity meter belongs to the City of Tshwane ("CoT"), as was explained to you, we logged a call with CoT first thing on Monday, 30/1/2023 – ***/30. We made regular follow-ups with CoT and also provided you the reference number in case you wanted to follow up from your side. CoT eventually attended to the problem on Wednesday, 1/1/2023.

On the 2/2/2023, your informed us that the electricity was off again and we sent our letting agent to the flat to see if the fault might be a meter user issue. As it was not the case, we immediately reported it to CoT again and logged a query the same day - ***/2. We called CoT on t3/2/2023 to follow up and were informed that they would escalate the matter. However, CoT never sent a technician out.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience that you have suffered for not having electricity from the day that you took occupation, but as mentioned, the meter is the property of CoT and we did everything from our side to report the issues and to follow up regularly. Unfortunately, there was not anything more that we could do.

We received a report of the blocked bathtub on 30/1/2023 and the issue was resolved the same day. We received a report of the leaking toilet on the 2/2/2023 and the issue was resolved the same day.

In an attempt to accommodate you elsewhere, you were offered two other units, but you indicated that you would be vacating the unit and wished to be refunded. We immediately arranged for a rental refund which was done on 3/2/2023. We retained R650.00, which is the non-refundable administration fee payable for the processing of the lease application, the credit vetting process and drafting of the lease. Please refer to the lease application document that clearly stipulates this charge.
