Pulp on Point a new venue worth supporting
Pulp on Point is a recently opened venue on Beach Road , Mouille Point , Cape Town that I've visited twice in the past week. Lovely setting, uncluttered, tranquil ambiance with interesting healthy choices on the menu. Everything I was served was fresh, delicious and beautifully presented so no complaints on that score. However, the part needed to finish it off is on the service delivery side. It was about a quarter full early in the day, but the service was very very slow. This is not on a par with the other restaurants in the Pulp chain. The waiter was not accommodating in his responses, refusing a simple substitution of an item on the menu without finding out first if it was possible and also stating there was no wi-fi as they had no code. Both seemed borne out of confusion as the former was attended to simply by the manager with the latter available not requiring a code! Management were on form and can easily rectify such situations arising by ensuring staff have adequate practice in responses to customers. It may be understandably related to a language issue, as on both occasions I was attended to by non-indigenous speakers. Lastly, when a customer is drawing attention to any discrepancy it is not, certainly in my case, about being difficult or personal, but in contributing to a better service delivery. There was a shift in attitude I felt related to my review comments and there was no thanks-you in spite of leaving a tip. This a venue I would like to continue to support and recommend so hopefully these concerns will be addressed.
