Refund of deposit

We have been renting a flat in Potchefstroom for our daughter. The lease expires and we gave notice that we are not going to renew. We painted the flat after we filled all the holes on 18/11/2017 and had an inspection done on 25/11/2017. The inspection was done by a friend of the owners and was late due to the agent who was supposed to do the inspection not arriving. We have been battling ever since to get our deposit paid back.

Today they send me a mail saying that they are deducting R 1 700-00 for paint work and R 250-00 for the cost of the inspection.

We are not satisfied and would like some assistance to get this sorted out.
