PSA Failed to Process My Resignation and Continues to Delay My Refund On 3 March 2026, I submitted a written email resigning from my PSA membership. The email clearly communicated my intention to terminate my membership and was acknowledged by the PSA representative at my workplace. I reasonably believed that my resignation had been processed. Months later, I discovered that membership fees were still being deducted from my salary. When I contacted PSA to query this, I was initially informed over the telephone that I needed to complete a cancellation form. I am now being informed that I need to provide a separate resignation letter in terms of the Labour Relations Act before PSA would consider processing a refund. At no stage when I first submitted my written resignation, or when I later contacted PSA by telephone, was I advised that my original resignation was allegedly insufficient or that a separate resignation letter was required. Instead, I was simply instructed to complete a cancellation form. Had PSA communicated the correct requirements from the outset, I would have comp**** immediately. Instead, they continued deducting membership fees for months while providing inconsistent and changing information regarding the resignation process. This entire process has been frustrating, time-consuming and avoidable. Members should not be prejudiced because of poor communication or inconsistent advice from the organisation. I am requesting that PSA: -recognise my resignation as effective from 3 March 2026; -refund all membership fees deducted after that date; and -review and improve its resignation process to ensure members receive clear, consistent and accurate information when resigning. I hope PSA resolves this matter promptly and fairly without requiring any further unnecessary delays.

It's a union that no longer protects the rights of ordinary working class. The shopstewards don't listen to the problems of the ordinary workers
