Disappointed in Proton Solar Distributors.
I bought a 5kw inverter with 4 x 200ah batteries from Proton Solar Distributors on 21/05/2022 and paid funds into an ABSA account. At home it was only a plug and play since our home is only on solar for years now. Next morning (Sunday) when switching on the solar panel dc switch, I realized that the inverter's charging light does not work like the previous inverter. It only works when it wants. Monday came and I phoned the company and was instructed to send them a whatsapp video which I did and still have it on my phone. No reply from the company. When I phoned again, I was told to bring back the inverter and leave it there for tests....... Apparently, after only a day or two after buying, they are not willing to exchange and should send it back to their supplier for testing?!?! Not bothering about the client's predicament of no eskom at home and still a new unit, they expect me to "bring back the unit" and be without electricity for as long as their "tests" take?!?! Needless to say, with our old unit being non-repairable I could not take back the unit and since it was charging and working correctly, I left the story there.
Second problem was on Thursday 22 September 2022. One of the 200ah batteries from the 48volt bank is losing its charge and is dragging the whole system down. These Goldshine batteries carry a one-year warranty within South Africa, but Proton Solar Distributors emailed me back that they do not give the warranty themselves and that I should bring the unit back for them to send to the factory for tests......
Again, solar is all we have at home and with no backup or exchange unit being offered, what am I supposed to do now? With the current fuel price, our generator runs with a R1000 worth of diesel each day.
After my last email back to Mr. du Plessis and all parties' copies, still no reply back with a solution from their side.
It is only my problem now.
If I knew then what I know now, I would not have bought from Proton Solar Distributors and rather from an importer from Pretoria North (Lavender Road) who actually gives a guarantee on his products and does the necessary tests onsite at their shop themselves!!
But hey! Proton Solar Distributors took my money with no queries....
This morning 06/10/2022 I called which is according to my knowledge, 5 working days. I was told by Richard that they first tested the battery at the shop and took 48 hours (Note that I was told that proton solar does not test batteries at their shop). Only after their tests, they send it to the "factory" and then the 3 to 5 working days starts ......
What should I believe??? They seem to change their stories to fit their ways.
Well in any case, Richard told me that my battery would be ready next week (hopefully a new one and not a recon).
I asked him specifically and was told that he will call me.
So, the waiting continues.

I actually feel sorry for the people in that shop for putting up with all the customers' returns or faulty products. A good team with good people skills. Unfortunately, you will always get faulty products or customers that takes chances.
Although I had a problem, the resolve actually resulted in me being willing to return for business.
