PUBLIC WARNING – Our Experience with Protec Auto (Bosch Services) Benoni We feel it’s important to share our recent experience so that others can make informed decisions. On 16 July 2025, we took our vehicle to Protec Auto (Bosch Services) Benoni for diagnostics only, with a quoted estimate of R850.00 plus VAT. On 5 August, we were informed the vehicle had been “repaired” and was ready for collection at a cost of R6,265.00; this was without our prior consultation, without a clear explanation, and without our authorisation for any work beyond the original diagnostic request. After paying the amount, we were asked to sign a disclaimer stating the vehicle was “100% correct”, which we declined. Less than 1 km from the workshop, the same issues persisted. The vehicle was returned immediately. On 12 August, when we went to collect the vehicle to take it elsewhere, we found it in a worse condition than before, the bonnet cable even broken. We are extremely disappointed with this experience and believe the service we received did not meet our expectations for professionalism or competence. This post reflects our personal opinion based on our direct experience, and we encourage anyone considering using this business to make sure they are fully informed before proceeding.
