UNDERHAND TACTICS TO MILK CLIENTS
I paid my bill 3 days prior to getting home and surprised to find my electricity disconnected. When i called to enquire why my electricity had been disconnected was told i had not paid and that they could only re-connect the following day. I had to ask for hot water from neighbors to prepare formula for my new born. Protea metering had not sent me any notification that my account was unpaid or that they would disconnect.

I was advised the following day that i had short paid by R200. I paid the amount and got reconnected only to be charged a re-connection fee of R650!!!

I advised that i should not be liable for the re-connection fee as i had not received any warning letter or notification. To MY SHOCK Raymond FABRICATED an email that was allegedly sent to me, which I obviously never received, else I would have contacted them to advise that payment had been made.

Protea metering is disgusting as they cover up for each other in order to charge a ridiculous re-connection fee.

PLEASE DO NOT ASSOCIATE YOURSELF WITH THIS GREEDY COMPANY!!
Your account reflects a bad payment history with several debit order payments that have bounced. The account will naturally be selected for credit control action that have a cost implication - we incur actual expenses to perform credit control actions and according to Council bylaws and tariffs the client who is in default is responsible for payment of the related costs.
It was proven that several notifications were indeed sent from the Credit Control Dept via email, sms and hand delivery - Raymond is not involved in this process at all and he merely forwarded the emails.
If you are willing to at least pay in time for the electricity that you have actually used you can avoid the additional charges - it is all in your own hands how account payments are managed.
We often find that it is the clients who do not pay for their own consumption who end up slinging around accusations of greed, ***** etc.
We believe that the information that was provided in the email communication should have been sufficient and that your accusations in this forum is unfounded and can be regarded as slander.
