The worst service ever in the name of Excellence
This is the worst company to work with, it appalls me that we are forced to work with this *********** company to manage a basic human right, Electricity, they don’t understand the extent to which they affect people’s lives in the most horrific way. They don’t manage the prepaid accounts efficiently, units just disappear without usage and the matter at hand today is that I bought electricity on the 22 March 2022 of R400 and till date it doesn’t appear to have been topped up, I have been calling all the numbers they have provided on their website and also the stickers they have provided all over the estate, no answer, two of their number say the subscriber isn’t available and the other keep ringing forever with no answer. Ill never move to a place where Protea Metering is managing the prepaid accounts, NEVER. I’d never recommend it.
Kindly note that the account statement that you can view on the OAMI platform reflects a R400 payment on 15 March, and a R300 payment on 23 March. If you have made a R400 payment on 22 March, and it is not reflected we would not be aware of it if we are not notified. Kindly forward the proof of the payment that is not reflected to our info email address for urgent assistance?
Just like account payments are managed by yourself, so is the consumption of electricity and water. Only the residents of a household have access to and control over the electricity and water consumption in their unit. We are merely recording the daily readings electronically.
Kindly note that you do not have a prepaid electricity meter. You have a smart account that loads electricity, water and sewer charges as you consume electricity and water. The account should always reflect a credit amount to ensure that the electricity meter does not switch off. The daily consumption etc. is information to which consumers have access to for the purpose of enabling them to manage their own consumption.
The after hours standby numbers will unfortunately not be available during office hours. The office number is *** and when it was tested the call immediately went through.
Kind regards

I have sent a proof of payment to one of you, Nolene, I hope this will get resolved cos the R300 that reflects on the 22nd was units we bought at a shop after the R400 that I bought on oami didn’t reflect on our account. Who’s supposed to notify you that I bought R400 electricity on the 22 March? Isn’t your systems or whatever you call it supposed to pick that up. I called the bank and they said the money was deducted from my bank account, all these stories you’re saying are just excuses to pardon you from something far from my responsibility and I am not going to pardon cos you even have an attitude of very petty and sucky customer service. You’re actually ****ing me off when you say it’s my responsibility to top up, I freakn know that and thus I topped up in time but y’all didn’t your job. How about you say you’ll investigate this instead of stipulating my responsibilities like I’m a child who doesn’t know their responsibilities? Like what the....WOW
Secondly you should make sure that your stupid app can be downloaded on IOS so that we can generate proof of purchase whenever we buy electricity, cos the website also doesn’t have a way of generating a proof of purchase, last time we were told that we can’t get the APP on IOS, is that fixed??? Do your part and we will do ours.
STOP SHIFTING BLAMES AND LOOK AT YOUR REVIEWS AND FIX PROBLEMS TO ENABLE YOUR CUSTOMERS. YOU THINK YOUR TERRIBLE RATING IS ALL IMAGINARY???
Y’all are adding to problems all South Africans have.
I can’t see the number you mentioned on your reply, I called the following numbers: ***, ***, and resorted to this *** when no one answered the other two for about 10 minutes of ringing altogether. And I never said the call didn’t go through in my comment, I said they weren’t answered.
Honestly I don’t know how y’all are still in business.

Kindly note that the payment in question is not reflected on our bank statement. Upon receipt of the screen shot that you have forwarded, the recipient of you email did involve our Book Keeping Department for assistance.
The amount was not paid into Protea Metering's bank account. You need to contact your bank and ask them for assistance to perhaps get the payment reversed?
Kind regards
