********** BY PROTEA METERING
Hi, I stay at Southgate ridge and ever since I got here I've spent so much on electricity. Its only my mom and I and we switch the geyser off, we barely cook and even when there hasn't been electricity for days the units decrease. Please advise what could be taking so much electricity?????

You are not signed on for the account of unit 68.
As such we are limited under the POPI act to disclose account information with someone who is not the registered account holder.
As a general comment we can confirm that the accounts for the complex is not for electricity only. Apart from electricity, tenants are also billed for water, sewer and the water fixed Demand Levy that is according to the promulgated tariff structure. The fixed charges are split into a daily amount payable to assist tenants with not having to pay it at once.
The consumption of both electricity & water seems completely normal for a household with 2 residents:
Invoice 09/05/2022 - 275 kwh electricity and 10 kl of water consumed.
Total cost for the month, including electricity, water, sewer, fixed charges & VAT = R723.72
Invoice 11/06/2022 - 313 kwh electricity and 14 kl of water consumed.
Total cost for the month, including electricity, water, sewer, fixed charges & VAT = R931.55
Consumption thus far for June, including electricity, water, sewer, fixed charges & VAT - R673.00
Please note that the amounts reflected on any account represents the actual amount of electricity and water that was consumed by the residents of a household. Nobody outside of a household has any influence on how much is consumed.
According to the information at our disposal, tenants also did not pay for water & sewer before Protea Metering was appointed and individual water meters were installed to enable the Body Corporate to recoup sufficiently and to enable them to settle the bulk Council account in full. If the bulk account is not settled in full, the Council will cut the bulk supply to the complex and all tenants will be left without services.
If you are the legal tenant at this unit, you are advised to register the account in your name on the OAMI platform.
That will enable you to monitor and manage the daily consumption of electricity and water. You will also be able to view the account statement, the credit left on the account etc. Please do not hesitate to contact our offices should you require assistance.
Kind regards
