Protea Metering not up to scratch
Very very bad metering company. I stay in a complex called Edengardens in Rynfield Benoni.first of all there is no customer service when phoning them.secondly the biggest issue that i have is that there rate per kw (unit) is not according to the municipalities tarrifs.i will give a short explanation on why we are not happy ,is that if i load R850 of electricity it only lasts me about 2 weeks.eventhough i know tarrif prices are a bit higher in winter months.it just does not add up.me and my wife are at work everyday.

Kindly note that the promulgated tariff for electricity includes a fixed charge to be levied per calendar month. The fixed charge is therefore added with the first kWh that is purchased per calendar month. The result is that the first kWh for the month is levied at a cost of R22.0387 (excluding VAT) to include the fixed charge. The first purchase per calendar month may therefore have been the cause of a bit of confusion regarding the rate at which you are billed.
Any further purchases for the rest of a specific calendar month does not include the fixed charge again.
Please note that we do not have any control over the number of kWh consumed by residents. Only the residents of a household determine how electricity is consumed.
Kindly make use of the tools provided on the OAMI platform, where a consumer is able to monitor and manage daily consumption.
Should you need any further information regarding the promulgated tariffs or assistance to make optimal use of the OAMI platform, please contact the Portfolio Manager. We would love to be of further assistance.
Kind regards
