Protea Metering is, without exaggeration, one of the worst service providers I have ever had to deal with. My experience with them was so frustrating and unacceptable that it is the very reason I moved out of my previous flat.
They continuously charged us for electricity, yet there were always unexplained deductions for things like sewer and “shared services” — charges that no one could properly explain, no matter how many times we asked. It felt dishonest and completely lacking in transparency.
Now that I have moved out, the situation has only gotten worse. I am trying to get my deposit back, but they are ignoring emails and failing to provide any clear answers. When I call, I get passed around and given different stories by agents who clearly have no idea what is going on. No accountability, no consistency, no resolution.
This company operates in a way that feels deceptive and exploitative. Customers are left in the dark, overcharged, and then ignored when they seek answers. It is beyond disappointing — it is infuriating.
I would strongly advise anyone to avoid Protea Metering at all costs.
The account is not for electricity only, but includes water, sewer and council fixed charges.
The final invoice, with the last month's consumption does also reflect the reversal of the deposit. Thing is, the consumption for the period is more than the R300 deposit, and the final amount is an outstanding balance of R206.62 that you still owe on the account. Kindly settle the outstanding balance:
