Paying Bill and Prepaid water at the same unit
I am currently staying in Theresa park estate where I am a tenant. we use Protea metering for water and electicity and its a prepaid. I am in a situation where when i buy water for example if I am buying water for R500 they will deduct R250, saying its their rates everymonths its like that, I am not the owner and I am paying rates and no one wants to assist me on how i am paying rates. now end of January Protea metering they sent me a bill statement saying I am owing them R807.55 for water which i have no idea how, I sent to my rental agency and they said they can not be involve because its under my name. I am not going to pay this money, how is it possible to stay/rent in 1 unit and pay bill and prepaid sametime. they need to sort it out or i will even call a media if i have to. I dont have money to pay this.Protea metering has become a nightmare. i have sent them email, my rental agency sent email also and no reply. on the statement they said due date for payment its on the 10th february 2021.
All residents were informed of the new water- & sewer tariffs that came into effect from 01/07/2020. The tariff structure has changed, where one only starts paying for water and sewer if you use more than 9 kl per 30 days, but with a fixed water network access charge of R120 per month, and a fixed sewer network access charge of R70 per month (excluding VAT). These cannot be paid via the prepaid meter, and you get invoiced for that separately. These invoices should be paid. If it is not paid by the due date, the system will automatically subtract the amount from your prepaid purchase.
Kindly note that the tariffs are determined by the Tshwane Council - we have no control over this.
