Overcharging for electricity
I used to pay around R 1000 a month for electricity, after the 15% tariff increase imposed I now found myself paying upwards of R 2200 a month.
In addition, the average electricity consumption has jumped from 600-650 KWH per month to 850-900 KWH per month. This does not make sense as there has been no change in the usage of electrical appliances.
I feel like I am being drastically overcharged and I am quite disappointed with Protea Metering as I have had no issues with them till now.

It is only the residents of your household who have control over the number of kwh used in your household. Please refer to the notice that you have received in the beginning of winter already that explains how the cold winter months results in higher consumption figures even if no extra appliances like heaters are used.
You have a prepaid account and made the purchase of R2 200 today - whether you use the whole R2 200 for the month ahead will be determined by yourselves. Should electricity be consumed wisely, it is possible to not use it all up by month end.
The amounts of you prepaid purchases for the last couple of months are as follows:
March - R1 000
April - R1 250
May - R1 750
June - R2 500
July - R0 Transactions (Using the built up credit from previous months)
Aug - R2 250
1 Sept - R2 200
Your purchase amounts did not jump from R1 000 to R2 200 simply in one month - the winter increase shows the normal, gradual increase as it was getting colder.
We are simply selling the prepaid electricity, how it is being consumed is beyond our control.
