OVERCHARGED AS USUAL
I have been sending emails to the Management team to request for my July invoice because it was not sent to me, but to date NO ONE is responding. I called the call center and was given a ridiculous amount , as usual. I want my readings and the amount due for end of July 2024. I am so sick of PROTEA METERING , IT'S NOT FUNNY. The most annoying thing is NOBODY CARES. They sent a memo saying the July invoice would be higher just because it's winter. SO WHAT IF IT'S WINTER , I DONT EVEN USE AN ELECTRIC HEATER , I USE A GAS HEATER SO WHERE'S THIS AMOUNT COMING FROM.

As the appointed metering agent there are factors that we have control over and others that we don't.
We ensure that good quality meters are placed that function optimally. And we record the actual readings for the invoicing process.
The factors that we do not have any control over are the number of units that you consume, and the Council's promulgated tariffs.
In winter your geyser cools down quicker, it has to work harder to keep the water hot. The sun rises later and sets earlier, and lights are therefore used for a couple of hours longer than in summer. The water you put in the kettle for tea or coffee is much colder than in summer. The kettle has to use more electricity to boil the same amount of water, just like your geyser.
So without using any additional appliances you are indeed using more electricity in winter. That is what everybody is experiencing and not a scenario that affects you only. Should you need more information kindly provide the account number or unit address.
Kind regards
