Leeches!
Protea Metering, why am I being charged a deposit of R390 on top of the deposit that I already paid but mostly on top of the ridiculous electricity prices that you are charging me? Is it because I am a good customer who settles the entire bill every month? You are taking my good paying habits for weakness and I will not have it! You are unjustifiably milking me for money and just because I pay you every month does not mean that it is because I can afford it. You are taking advantage of a single mom with an infant who is barely making ends meet already and it is disgusting behaviour! You should be ashamed of yourselves you leeches!

According to Council Bylaws, a deposit should be sufficient to cover twice the monthly bill.
Section 8 of the CoJ bylaws state that a deposit may be increased at any stage that it is found to be insufficient.
Your's is a new account - we then monitor the first 3 months' consumption and if the initial deposit is found to be insufficient, an automated increase will be done. Thereafter the deposit will stay the same, unless the account falls into arrears and is selected for credit control action. Only then will the system do another evaluation of the deposit.
You were informed in advance via the GENERAL INFORMATION doc. that you have signed when you app**** for the service.
Please keep in mind that the deposit is refundable when you move out and the account is terminated - the deposit therefore stays your's.
You are also welcome to contact us on *** to negotiate for an interest free arrangement to pay the increased amount in monthly instalments.
