HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

I moved in a unit whose water and electricity is managed by Protea metering, something the agent failed to address before I moved in. I was told water would cost about 100 rand per month. I did not receive an invoice from Protea Metering from October 2020 to February 2021. Then beginning of March I received 5 x invoices amounting to more than 2000 rand and I was told to pay all invoices immediately. Between March 1 and today and I have paid more than 1500 of the bill. This morning I received an email from their credit controllers that a letter of demand would cost me 200rand I must pay 700 immediately. I responded and said because I only received all the invoices at the same time I can not pay them at the same time as it was not my error. someone at protea metering didn't do their job. upon asking the metering to be checked as the prices seemed high, I was told I HAD TO PAY NEARLY 2000RAND FOR THEM TO CHECK IT. TODAY THE PERSON OPERATING THE INFO@ ACCOUNT AND WESSEL ARE TELLING ME I AM OBLIGATED TO PAY EVEN WHEN I DON'T GET AN INVOICE. HOW WILL I KNOW WHO TO PAY? HOW MUCH WILL I PAY FOR THIS UNKNOWN AMOUNT ON AN INVOICE UNSENT. I HAVE ASKED TO TALK TO A SUPERVISER AND NO ONE HAS RESPONDED TO ME. IT'S NOT MY FAULT SOMEONE SAT ON THE INVOICES AND DIDN'T THINK TO DO THEIR JOB. ALSO THIS APPLICATION WAS NOT SIGNED BY ME, SOMEONE AT PROTEA DID AFTER REALISING THEY HAD NOT DONE THEIR JON

Dear Zoe

If the letting agent neglected to inform you who is supplying the services and you neglected to ask, how are we supposed to know who is using the services and where to send the invoices to?  The bylaws specifically states that applying for the account, thus providing contact details is the responsibility of the consumer.

Kind regards
