****************

I ALWAYS ensure that my geyser, stove and heater are never on at the same time and even then I turn my geyser on during on at 11 o' clock at night when I sleep and turn it off first thing in the morning. I live with my 10 month old daughter and I was not here for two weekends in May and I barely cooked. My electricity bill came up to be R793! Even at my previous play where electricity was prepaid, I paid R400 for electricity at the most. This is **************** by Protea metering and it is quite frankly, disgusting.

Hello MonaDl,

Since you have moved into this premise at the beginning of May and the invoice that you are referring to is the first invoice that we have processed for you, we unfortunately have no consumption history for the purpose of making a comparison to other months' consumption. According to this invoice your average daily consumption over 32 days is 16 kwh per day, which is normal for a household with normal appliances like a stove, geyser, fridge etc. and cooking and washing to be done.

We can confirm that actual readings were taken and that the unit is supp**** with electricity with a SABS approved meter that is in good working condition. It should also be kept in mind that electricity consumption escalates as soon as temperatures start dropping, and we have less hours per day of sunlight.

The mere recording of the reading unfortunately does not give the service provider any control over the number of kwh's consumed - only the occupants of a unit has control over their own consumption of electricity.

We can confidently confirm that the invoice is correct.

Warm regards

Protea Metering
