CONSIDERING PROTEA METERING - DON'T! WE HATE THEM!
In our complex we were FORCED to use Protea Metering, we never wanted to go onto prepaid. Every month there's a problem! I can't buy pre-paid electricity online it never generates a token No, I have to phone PM, be put on hold for however long before someone tells me the token No. Last month, I bought electricity and HALF the electricity was deducted because according to their system our account was in ARREARS!! We use prepaid electricity, if it were ever to run out the power is cut so how can we be in arrears? I phone and get told it's in arrears for water! Our water supply is included in our levies which are VERY HIGH! Protea M has NOTHING to do with our water. They eventually see it's a mistake and refund us the money. This month again - the same thing, arrears deducted! I bought a token yesterday and have tried to load it 7 times already but get a code 30 error. I phoned their after hours line the lady tells me it's a problem with the machine, tells me to turn off everything for 5 minutes at the mains, which i did - twice, to no avail. She also couldn't help with the arrears issue. Phone the office now, again put on hold, spoke to a lady then got DELIBERATELY cut off! ***
No Complex/building is ever FORCED to make use of our services. A Body Corp or Board of Trustees make the decision, after doing their homework of what is available in the market. The decision to deal with Protea is therefore usually a well informed one.
From your complaint it is unfortunately not possible to determine the address to enable us to investigate your account or your allegations.
We collect water on instruction from the Body Corp or HOA and if the water account is overdue, the prepaid purchases may be blocked. This is standard practice, also at the City Council.
A code 30 error is not due to neglegance or a mistake from Protea - the problem is common regardless of who the meter reading company is, and we do assist with this problem to the best of our ability.
Should you need further assistance please forward an email to ***?
Warm regards
