Worst experience at Protea Hotel by Marriott Mossel Bay

(Protea Hotel by Marriott Mossel Bay) Stay away from this one. This was not my first night staying in a Protea Hotel and up to date every other Protea Hotel gave us an amazing experience with exceptional service, especially the King George Hotel, I have always viewed the brand as exceptional but the same cannot be said for Protea Hotel by Marriott Mossel Bay. They allowed music so loud that even if I block my ears with headphones I could still hear and feel it, almost like I was standing in a club starting just after breakfast. This without informing staying guests in advance and its not like its cheap to stay there. Over and above the soul festival held just outside our room, The Hotel arranged a wine festival which completely took over the lounges and pool areas with wine and food vendors and many patrons with loud music until 9pm every evening, we had no enjoyment of any of those areas. This completely spoiled an amazing break away weekend planned well in advance. Upon arrival there was no parking at the Hotel, due too all the festival attendees, and reception was unfriendly and not welcoming at all, the poor bellboy(only one on duty) was very friendly and helpful and I could see completely overworked. He insisted on carrying our luggage from where we found parking to the Hotel(10/10 for him), He was also acting as the handy man to come and sort out any technical or maintenance issues. There was no dinner restaurant as this was occupied by the wine festival. Few errors with the room, balcony door not opening and closing or locking properly but that wasn't a problem on its own, the dstv was stuck and reception had to send someone(the bellboy) to come and fix both. The room was a harbour suite so it was beautiful with an amazing view but somehow I still feel cheated, 100% dissatisfied with what I paid for the service we received. I drove +-400km to arrive there and had a high expectation from such a fine brand as Protea, but that quickly disappeared. One of the guests, a tourist was also complaining to reception about all the money he spend to be there just to have drinking and smoking patrons just outside his room and all over the hotel accompanied with loud music but he too was just stared at by reception like he is over reacting. I was appalled by how this foreign guest was treated. I couldn't take it so I took out my frustration at reception which probably didn't deserve it but they are the only ones on site to talk too. I was about to demand to be moved over to the King George Hotel on saturday afternoon(unable to rest or enjoy any peace and quite in our room) but the soul festival was close to its end so I cancelled that request. They gave me a bottle of wine to compensate but I spend over R3000 for the weekend and I wouldn't have paid R500 if I had known. Another shock was returning from dinner on the 1st night to find housekeeping in our room 8pm at night, without our knowledge, apparently to put chocolate in our rooms...? Why couldn't that be done with housekeeping in the morning. Very strange and discomforting. Will most definitely not return to this Hotel and wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. Best part is, my relationship with the Protea Hotels by Marriott brand basically just started after I recently joine the Prokard Explorer. I was and still am planning to stay in various Protea Hotels by Marriott but this Hotel wont be one of them. Such a shame actually. The breakfast food and service was enjoyable but I didn't book there for just breakfast...terrible
