So unhappy

While the reception staff and friendly cleaner we encountered in the hallway were very pleasant and helpful, we really had a terrible experience at the restaurant and pool area.

We usually stay at the African Pride Melrose and love it. It’s our second stay at Fire and Ice, we are seriously unimpressed.

We are celebrating so we brought a bottle of Moët from home, as we have done at African pride a few times.

We politely asked at the bar of Fire and Ice if we could take our Moet to enjoy at the pool while we order food from the restaurant but encountered such a bad attitude from the staff and manager explaining we absolutely can’t. We felt very uncomfortable for even asking and ordered ****tails and food.

While lying at the pool we saw a family bring their own entire picnic baskets from the apartments on the left side of the pool. It included 2Lcoke, home made burgers and a pack of crisps. The other visitors from the hotel also had their own snacks.

I went to the loo and saw the manager that handled us so badly at the bar. I mentioned that I didn’t appreciate the way we were dealt with wanting to bring a bottle of Moët while ordering food from the restaurant, but people at the pool are bringing their own food and drinks.

The manager reacted defensively and said he will come see the people at the pool and come and reprimand them to. I explained that, that was the last thing I wanted, and definitely not the point of my comment.

When I reached my husband at the pool the manager and his manager (lady) approached me like a school kid in trouble and said out loud. I believe you have a problem. While feeling embarrassed I responded that I had no problem. And they happily left.

The difference is that African pride compared to Fire and ice are client centered and it really does make all the difference.

We won’t come back here.
