Prokard Explorer - **** Voucher not redeemable
<p>I have joined the Prokard Explorer Membership for R1,650. You get complimentary accommodation vouchers (Worth R12,000) which is according to Prokard Terms & conditions not redeemable during School Holidays, Peak times, Sporting events, Important dates such as Mother's & Father's day, Public Holidays, Long weekends and most important Peak times at the discretion of hotel management. Which in short means "No available dates to book". I do not have a problem with the T&C's, but then I tested it. I tried to book any date in Cape Town for March. No success. Thereafter I randomly selected Clarens, Hazyview, Emalahleni and Klerksdorp. These dates were mid week for Sep & Oct, and not conflicting with important dates. The messag everytime was "THIS PROMOTION IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR YOUR SELECTED DATES. PLEASE USE CALENDAR TO SEARCH FOR ALTERNATE HOTELS." I required accommodation for midweek March 2018 in Cape Town (Please note: Not on the Argus Weekend). I searched on the internet for a Protea Hotel in Cape Town. At the same time I contacted Protea Hotel Reservations (Gave them my Prokard membership number). The price they quoted was R300 more than the price I could get it on the internet as a non-member. Conclusion: Spare yourself the frustration and DO NOT GET A PROKARD. Prokard only works if you are dining out. Obviously there is something wrong with the economy because according to Protea Hotels, Emalahleni(Witbank) is a peak time destination. Nothing againts Emalahleni, I do love the scenery. 2hrs away from Joburg. I would save on flight tickets. But unfortunately I couldn't get accommodation. </p>

As per Prokard Terms and Conditions, complimentary accommodation is granted on a first come, first served basis. All hotels have a limited number of rooms available each month for this benefit. At certain hotels, due to high demand and at the discretion of the hotel's management, complimentary accommodation may not be granted over public holidays, school holidays or during any major sporting event, festival or peak period. Certain hotels may only accept complimentary accommodation reservations during the week or over weekends.
Due to the allocation of rooms per month for complimentary accommodation, you might not be able to find availability using the voucher however at times you might be able to find rooms at the hotel on your Prokard rate, remembering that you would still qualify for your Prokard discount and should you book a Prokard promotional rate online, you would then receive a further 5% discount.
