Planned holiday in shambles

Hi ProProp

We have a signed contract with the "Professional Property People" at your Hibiscus Coast - Margate offices. This was dated 9 March 2016 for our family holiday for 24-30 December 2016.

Due to the lack of professionalism and down right negligence, as at 23 November we were advised that our accommodation and the subsequent deposit had not been finalised with the owner of the property at any time during this year. It was then that this entire booking started falling to pieces. Due to the fact that the owner terminated his agreement with ProProp at the end of October (we were informed about this by your attorneys after several calls back and forth and NOT from ProProp who should have advised us of this as we were YOUR clients), the owner has since booked out these dates to other people.

As it stands we have yet to receive any form of apology, or any kind of communication as emails and phone calls are not returned. I find it ironic that your establishment prides itself on professionalism yet as it stands, a few days before our FAILED planned holiday over Christmas we have yet to receive our deposit back.

The agents concerned have only in the last few days offered alternatives that are NOWHERE near the standards of our original property. If they had done their jobs properly, this would have been picked up months ago and resolved immediately. We would then have been in a position to source new accommodation in our price range of R3000-R4000 a day. As "professionals" they are aware of how difficult it is to secure a booking at this time of year.

I am appalled at the manner in which this has been handled, with confirmation of our "planned" holiday still up in the air. I have never encountered such bad business ethics with zero integrity and lack of concern.

So ProProp, I would like to know:
- Who will take responsibility for this mess after our Christmas holiday has been ruined?
- Who will be liable for my international flights for returning home for said holiday?
- When will we receive our deposit back for a holiday that was booked in March of this year and has subsequently not taken place?
- Where are your ethical standards?

I apologise for using this medium but I have no choice as I am tired of waiting for calls and emails to be returned. I trust this will be rectified in due course so as to not have to go further than I need to.

Best regards,

Sharleen De Villiers
