Proplink Brackenfell - shocking and disgusting
We were looking for a new house to live in and run a small business from late 2017. We found a house that appeared to be conducive, but had many problems. We decided to take the house because we were informed and promised that all the problems would be sorted out while we lived there, but could not be done immediately because the owners did not have money. We were forced to take the house a month earlier but only got possession of the house 22 days after. We were not compensated for this. There was also no incoming inspection done. The incoming inspection was only done roughly 1 - 2 months after we moved in. The house was in an absolute state when we moved in. Filthy! We have been complaining about the leaking roof, the walls that had not been painted in 10 years, the holes in the walls, the walls with massive water damage, the broken fascia's, the abysmal garden, damaged and almost rotten window frames, leaking toilets, black swimming pool, etc, etc from the minute we moved in. Also, we had been **** to about a wall that had been put up, the neighbours being peaceful, and A LOT of information had been omitted - such as traffic, neighbours being extremely noisy and destructive to the property (throwing stones which at times actually hit us) and many more things.
We unfortunately were not aware of any of this, but gave Proplink and the owners a year to see to the issues. We listed them and complained about them since us moving in but were told it would be sorted out.
Eventually, after a year and a bit we decided to move out because they mislead us into signing a contract that states that we accept the house as is when we moved in - they omitted all of this and **** to us, thus entrapping us into a contract. After we as a family were getting ill regularly we couldn't take more of this abuse. We moved out. Even though we can't prove that the house caused health issues - our health before the house was impeccable, and now we are often ill. I noticed mold throughout the one room where water is collecting in the wall. The paint is bubbling and the windows often have mold collecting on them because of the dampness. We were informed that we could make holes. In total we made about 20 holes to hang certain things. Remembering that there were numerous holes in the walls, lackluster patch up jobs, fischer plugs throughout the house, etc. The walls are so dirty that it was actually quite disgusting to live in that house. We asked the estate agent and the owner numerous for a year times to please supply us with the paint name - but was informed that the house had not been painted since they bought the house (like a decade ago). We tried to match the paint as best as we could, and patch up their holes as well. We even painted one of their rooms out of our own pocket, replaced their disgusting and broken toilet seats, fixed up numerous things around the house, and fixed the pool which was unusable and broken when we moved in. When we handed the house over the pool was blue, but a bit murky after the storm. We are now being held liable to paint the interior of the house because the paint we tried to match doesn't match perfectly (after asking for a year for the correct paint name), the pool is now apparently green and sandy (a week after we handed the house over), and 3 drops of paint that we missed after painting their room which can be taken off with a little turpentine. This is truly petty and we would never recommend Proplink. The estate agent has been extremely rude from the get go. The owners are trying to shaft us out of our deposit. And the way we have been treated by the owners guests throughout our time living at that death trap (who were living on the same property as us) has been appalling. I am disgusted by Proplink and am happy to be with Sonje Botha Properties who is above and beyond the best estate agent, way superior to this subpar company. I am shocked in the treatment from Proplink - and that besides all the abovementioned and being mislead our deposit is being held hostage for things we did not do. We cancelled the contract because we could not endure the state of affairs any longer. As an agent you should protect your tenant as well as the owner, and we have been abused and badly let down.
