PropertyPro Stellenbosch - not Pro at all . . .

PropertyPro Stellenbosch was our Rental Property Management Agent, recommended by a friend, for four years. They managed my partners' house in an Estate in Stellenbosch.

The last tenants vacated the house at the end of January 2020 after their lease expired. We were wondering why there was interest in the house, but no tenants wanting to move in. Simoné Fourie of PropertyPro said a prospective tenant requested a repaint of the house inside. The house was painted less than 4 years ago, so we were surprised by the request.

When we went to inspect the house on 7 February, we were shocked and utterly disappointed by the condition of the house - it was was filthy with several items damaged. At that point we had not received an outgoing inspection report. Simoné said she had to give the tenants another chance to clean the place, and then she would only consider getting it cleaned if it was not up to standard. This delay in itself was absolutely unacceptable, but we had no choice. We eventually received the outgoing inspection on 10 February with the final inspection taking place on 13 February only. When we pointed out that the house was still filthy and not in the pristine condition PropertyPro received it to be rented, they showed their total incompetence as property managers by just playing post-office, relaying messages between us and the obnoxious tenants. The tenants bluntly refused to take any responsibility for anything, and our support from PropertyPro was ZERO!!

PropertyPro did NOT execute their responsibility to have the property cleaned and ready for rental on 1 February. There were continuous excuses on why everything was late, not cleaned, and total incompetence from PropertyPro's side. They actually protected the tenants to the point where we decided to rather chase them and the tenants away before I perhaps did or said something unnecessary which could land me in trouble. PropertyPro totally capitulated on their responsibility as property rental managers. Elevating our problem to the business owner had no effect at all.

I took over the cleaning project of the house. We had the carpets cleaned, I washed down the walls, and cleaned the filthy oven. The walls were so filthy that I ended up repainting the house in order to get it to a presentable standard again.

So be warned - if ever you consider getting a property management agency in Stellenbosch, DON'T use PropertyPro - or do so at your own peril.
