Property24 Sale Ad Placements & YouTube Video Links

Preamble: Property24 is one of if not the leading advertising online platform in South Africa offering sale and rental real estate placements to both private and commercial customers. As a long-standing private rental ad customer, a sale listing was opted for instead on 18 September 2023. In comparison to it's rental counterpart, a sale listing comes in north of 350% cost-wise but does offer the added benefit of a link to an uploaded video hosted on YouTube. The cost of producing the video is for own account.

Context: Having successfully paid for the placement, Property24 listed the ad however, the submitted video link was summarily declined citing adherence to policy, in particular that the piece violated a minimum 80% "real video footage" prerequisite. In the eye of the beholder, any collage of side-by-side flowing visual pieces contextualised within the appropriate format (i.e., mp4 video in this instance) constitutes "video footage". Technically then Property24's refusal to publish the link is severely subjective, it does not truthfully construe a valid counter in support of it’s own policy. That aside, it also negates fulfilment of one of it’s limited value-added mandates offered to this costly product.

The intended video conforms in all aspects yet, despite collective deliberation and rational reasoning, Property24 remains resolute in fronting it's policy in refusing to publish. With this apparent impasse the only option is to exercise the given consumer right to cancel which lies at the root of the challenge – to secure the refund.

Bottom Line: The product does not fulfil expectations. A refund was requested and acknowledged on 26 September 2023. The objective is to ensure Property24 will act expeditiously in securing the refund.
