Sneaky & Shady

Christine is my agent. I am renting a property from the landlord, who also lives on the premises. Along with another tenant on the premises. And my experience is shocking.

The landlord came walking into my cottage the first day I was there to give me the rules, and he also assumed it okay to come walking in the 2nd day while I wasn't at the front door "to come check up on me" he said. I kept the safety locked from there on. He is very comfortable overstepping tenants' privacy.

He makes renovations without giving proper notice as to when he will come work. I asked them to please let me know, as it affects me - and I got told by my agent that they don't need my permission???

Wakes his tenants up almost every morning with no excuse. Calls meetings for his own egoic reasons. I tried to reason with him but he is not reasonable.

I reported all these problems to my agent. To which she did nothing. But she is quick to call a meeting for his egoic reasons.

The other tenant could just take my parking (which I pay for). And my agent asked me, well can't I just ignore it?

There is an obvious picking of sides and lack of duty, they don't focus on what is fair for both parties in any case.

After 6 months i just wanted to leave. But surprised when I was threatened with a R3500 penalty.

Turns out my agent also gave me the wrong contract. I sent their office proof of the chat between me & Christine where she clearly states she is going to give me a 6-12month contract. But they just kept saying I already signed for 12-months straight and will pay a penalty. So the admin fee I paid for was for what? For them to draw up the contract they want!? What a *******.

The way they operate is sneaky and shady - and overall they are unjust and frustrating to deal with. Just an extra expense of no benefit for the rentee.
