Theft | Proline Autobody |Sunglasses
I was involved in an accident 7am 11 October 2019.
My vehicle was then towed to Proline Panelbeaters approx 9am 11 October 2019.
In the shock of the entire process, I completely forgot to take the glasses out of my car.
In desperation, I realized later that day that my glasses were still in my vehicle.
In a frenzy, I attempted to contact Proline Panelbeaters several times. Eventually I got hold of the operations manager who tells me that they are closed and that I should come the next day.
When I come through the next day, they are still closed but allow me in to get my glasses.
Upon arriving at my car, I realized that my glasses were not in the car. They had only returned my wheel lock.
I asked the workshop manager where my glasses where and he assured me that they are definitely safely locked away and that I shouldn't worry.
The following Monday I attempted to call and email Kyra van Eden, who was managing my car supposedly. I left a few messages and I emailed her a few times.
Did not get any call or any of my emails returned.
I then reached out to my insurance broker who said that they can assist with a claim out of my own insurance however the amount would only cover 20% of the glasses value, as they were of a premium brand that a friend of mine had given to me as a gift.
I attempted again to ask the panel beater that surely they would investigate this, get police involved, etc. Naturally, I understand that they're only glasses, but have the decency to return my emails and calls after I'm telling you that my glasses are missing.
Again, no feedback from these guys after trying a few more times.
Its Day 11 since I sent those repeat follow ups so I sent another email asking for feedback.
Herewith my correspondence and theirs after two weeks after the fact:

The vehicle arrived at Proline on Friday night (after closing), the client came to see his vehicle before the shop even opened for business on Saturday. The yard manager took the client to his vehicle to look for his sunglasses. There were no glasses found in the vehicle. We have no proof that the vehicle entered our premises with these glasses and clients are requested to remove all personal items from the vehicle before the vehicle is towed. Unfortunately we cannot be held liable for these glasses. I am unable to assist any further in this matter.
Kind regards, Kyra van Eden

Hi Kyra,
Please can you advise where my vehicle was from the 9am it was picked up to shop being closed?
Also, Jana said you take pictures of the inside of the car when they arrive. Please share these pictures?

Expectations.
Proline Panelbeaters to assist with 80% of the value replacement of my glasses (approx R2000) I'll take care of the remaining R1000 with my insurance.

Your service manager calls me and guess what she says to me.
She asks me: What is the problem?
I ask her, did you bother to read the hello peter I wrote?
Nope she didn't.
I asked her, read it, then call me back.
She hasn't bothered to call me back.
