Gross mismanagement of my renovation project / ethical concerns

Only Tiaan remains at Pro Vision Projects (Pty) Ltd (PVP). The rest have moved on to start new companies, some of them probably more than once since working at PVP. I engaged PVP to do significant renovation work at my home in Cape Town in March 2022. Russia had just invaded Ukraine and so I agreed to pay an unusual material upfront deposit (>50% of total contract sum) for them to secure the raw materials asap to avoid the raw material inflation that I feared would result from the invasion. Initial practical completion date was scheduled for 27 May 2022. Actual practical completion date ended up being sometime in September 2022. PVP were engaged as building contractors who employed sub-contractors to do most parts of the work. I eventually found out that PVP had used the material upfront deposit that I paid to PVP to pay off previous contracts that were not yet completed. Consequently, since the beginnning of my contract there was constantly cash flow issues (unbeknown to me). It ended up that some/most of the sub-contractors (who I needed to fix snags) were unprepared to work with PVP until they had been paid in full for the work already completed.

I do not have the time nor the energy to sue PVP (although I have a 5 year signed agreement with PVP for latent defects which have arisen and they refuse to pay for).

I still have outstanding latent defects as at December 2024.

I strongly recommend that you do not work with any of these individuals: Tiaan Maree from PVP, Jurie Geldenhuys (not sure what he has called his new company - Facebook says Isivalo The Lid), and Dewald Smith (Komando Construction).

In Dewald's defense. He was the project manager on the job, did a decent job and did his best to help resolve the subsequent conflicts between PVP and I. However, he remained working for PVP/didn't inform me once he had already found out that the initial deposit was used for prior contracts and that it was not ring-fenced to my project as it should have been causing cash flow concerns for my project which could lead to issues later in the contract (as it eventually did).
