My traumatic relocation experience with Pro Trucking and Movers in October 2020

This company moved our belongings in October 2020 from Pretoria to Mossel bay. I have to start by saying it was by far the most traumatic moving experience of my lifetime and want to put it in perspective that I am a qualified engineering professional.

Below is a summary of my experience, there is much more to say.. They were late and although I warned them that it will be very dangerous and difficult to move the heavy furniture in the dark, they wanted to start loading after 5 pm. I insisted on them coming the next day, which was agreed, but they were an hour and a half late. The packing and loading was totally unprofessional, with a high truck (too small) and a very short ramp to load two heavy motorcycles. Boxes showing this way up was forced in on its side. We had to supply packing material as they did not have enough. They loaded at night, with the truck standing in the busy street with no lights and no one to check - I had to supply lights and warning hazards. They returned the next day late for the rest of the furniture and the quotation was adjusted as more stuff was loaded according to them. I had to pay the rest immediately (no proper conciliation given) otherwise they threatened to stop loading. The furniture was delivered two weeks later than agreed and there was severe damage to the washing machine and leather couches as well as scratches and dents in most furniture. The heavy couches were standing on its side with no blankets to protect it. I was forced to receive the second load at 11 H00 PM at night (despite the fact that I warned them of high winds and difficult access), otherwise threatened to accept penalties. Some belongings were not delivered and I had to retrieve it form their warehouse in Boksburg at my own cost.

They refuse to repair/replace the damaged furniture and also to refund my trip to Boksburg and they could not provide proof of insurance which according to my quotation was paid for and with Outsurance.

FOR YOUR OWN SANITY, PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, RATHER PAY FOR A PROFESSIONAL REMOVAL COMPANY AND BE VERY CAUTIOUS OF PART LOADS. YOU MAY PAY LESS BUT REMEMBER THAT YOUR FURNITURE WILL HAVE TO ENDURE MULTIPLE HANDLING.
