Violation of consumer protection act CPA section 56

Good Day,

On Friday 18 November 2016, I bought jewels product range after aggressive selling and false claims from the saleslady at Princessa shop at the Pavilion Shopping centre. The salesperson promised me that the products are very good quality and that are even recommend by Dr Oz and that after using them I'll feel and see the difference on my skin texture. I told her that I'm not comfortable buying the products since I'm don’t stay in Durban and that in case it gives me problems I won't be able to go to the shop immediately, she then assured me that the products are one of the best products in the market. She also made reference of Princessa Web page but was actually puzzled when I surf the net that there was no telephone numbers/street address for head office or branches around SA.

On Friday while I was at the shop the she app**** make up on my face which was a very dark foundation, a shade which is way different to the shade of my make up that I'm currently using and she kept insisting that the shade is suitable for my skin colour, though I wasn’t convinced I ended taking it as she gave another lighter shade which she said I can add until I get a shade which suits me. On Monday 21 November, I used the make up my colleagues made comments that my make up is dark. I only used their make up 3 times and guess what? On Saturday 19/11/2016, I woke up with 2 ****les and wondered why I was having ****les since I haven't had ****les in years. On Monday 21/11/2016 I used use their make up and in the afternoon I noticed that I had a rash on the left side of my face and on the forehead. On Monday evening I decided to start using the Jewels products instead of using it on Tuesday as instructed by the salesperson and guess what, my face started to itch and burned so badly, I then thought that maybe it's because of the gold peeling gel and mask which maybe opened the pores. On Tuesday 22/11/2016 I only used toner, serum and moisturiser which is too rich for my skin type, my face didn’t only burn and itch but my eyes turned red. I used the Jewels product range for only 2 days & make up 3 days and I have a terrible reaction towards the product. My skin was clear and radiant before using the Jewels products/make up and If I continue using this product range my skin will not only look terrible but will be damaged too.

I'm really disappointed, dissatisfied and angry because I told the sales lady when she forced sell the products to me that I'm happy with my current facial products as does what it promises. I still cannot believe that I paid R9600 for something that has harmful ingredient, even the package of the Gold Gel Peel tells you to be cautious by apply the product on the patch 24 hours before using the product on the entire face. The email was sent to Princessa customer care centre (email: ********** and I followed up with the call to check if my email was received on Tel: ********** and the lady by the name of Kia answered and took my contact details. A guy by the name of Jeremy then responded to my email and asked me to send a copy of the invoice and they responded on 25 Nov and said due to hygiene reasons they won't be able to refund me but they will give me a credit. I responded back and told them that I will not accept a credit as there's nothing I can buy at their shop as they only sell the jewels product. To date no one has responded to my email.

Someone needs to do something about this and stop this company from taking advantage of consumers because I do know fores**** that I’m not the first and the last consumers whose consumer rights have been violated.

Kind regards
Charlotte Nhlapo
