Worsted experience: Incompetence, incorrect information and unjustified delays
On the 29th of April 2024, my partner (regular driver 2) and I (regular driver 1, policy holder) got into an accident on the N1 between Beaufort West and Laingsburg. I called emergency and they organized a tow truck. Emergency informed be that because it was after hours for the claims department, they could not assist me with a car hire/courtesy car. I was expected to pay R7000 for them to get me to Cape Town or opted for R1000 fee to ride in the tow truck to George. The next morning, I received a call from a claims consultant who informed me that my comprehensive cover does not include car hire/courtesy car, because I rejected that option (false information). She further told me that I would be liable to pay an access fee of R9055 because my partner was driving (false information). I advised her to look into the car hire matter (phone recordings) and to consult my policy for the Reduce-to-zero clause. A few days later, another consultant called me. He informed me that they had listened to the recording and the consultant that signed me up failed to offer me the car hire option. Why was I initially told "I rejected the offer"? Why are PMD consultants so *********** to the point where they fail to address important details. Had I known the policy doesn't include car hire/courtesy car, I would have never signed up with PMD. Was this done deliberate, to increase sign up figures? I will definitely pursue this legally.
1.5 weeks later, I received a call from another consultant. He told me the claim was approved and I was liable to pay an excess fee of R9055. Why is it that I have to continuously correct these consultants? Is this a strategy to make clients pay additional, unnecessary costs?? I had to refer him back to the Reduce-to-zero clause, after he had repeatedly told me that it's because my partner was driving (she is listed in my policy as the number 2 regular driver!).
Misinformation, incompetency and lack of care is a recurring theme at PMD.
Since my claim was approved two weeks ago, I have not received calls from PMD. Last week I requested a callback, and no one called back. Instead, I am talking with the repair shop people. Yesterday, the repair shop informed me that PMD processed an incorrect parts list. The repair shop had to request a new parts list for approval. PMD has not called to inform me about this. I have been in the dark for approx. 2 weeks now. I have requested a callback, yet again.
I would not advise anyone to sign up with PMD. This has been the worst experience for me. I took out insurance to prepare for emergencies, but PMD doesn't care about their clients. PMD has some *********** consultants and it evident that PMD wants clients to pay more money, instead of fixing problems promptly.
